In continuation of its nation-wide campaign to keep Cameroonians abreast with basic cyber security tips and best practices to be adopted in the cyberspace, the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies, ANTIC, shall organise a Public Awareness Raising Seminar on Cyber Security, 29-31 March 2017, in Garoua, North Region.

Holding under the theme: "Stop Cyber criminality, together let's bar the way," the seminar shall be one in a series that has already taken the Agency to other seven regions of the country.

Undertaken in a bid to promote the safe use of ICTs and scale down the incidence of cyber criminality in Cameroon, the activity falls within the framework of ANTIC's mission of regulating electronic security activities, as spelled out in Article 7 of the 2010 Law on Cyber security and Cyber criminality.

The public shall be drilled on the institutional, legal and technical aspects of cyber security as well as best practices to be adopted in the cyberspace.

The seminar shall be marked by the following activities:

  • Workshop with managers of cyber cafés;
  • Presentations and a question and answer session on cyber criminality and cyber security concerns;
  • Distribution of cyber security brochures and campaign gadgets.

Meanwhile a caravan campaign, Friday 31 March 2017, in primary and secondary schools in Garoua will crown the three-day seminar during which pupils and students shall be drilled on basic ICT concepts, cyber security and the role played by ANTIC in the promotion of ICTs in Cameroon. The campaign in schools shall be marked by a quiz and award of prizes to winners.
