ANTIC’s staff and other ICT-sector stakeholders are currently being groomed on Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (CIIP) and IT Management by IT experts from the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation, CTO.

The two-week training workshop which went underway, Wednesday 15 September 2021, in Yaounde, has brought together over 30 trainees mainly IT and Telecommunications engineers from ANTIC, Telecommunications Regulatory Board, Camtel, General Delegation for National Security,  National Advanced School of Engineering (Polytechnique), National Advanced School of Posts, Telecommunications and ICTs (SUP’PTIC) and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.

The workshop is part on the strategy earmarked by ANTIC - Cameroon’s cybersecurity Agency, to strengthen the security of the country’s Critical Infrastructure, with technical dispositions that make for real time monitoring and effective response to cybersecurity risks as well as threats from inside and outside the country.

Mindful of the necessity to put in place a comprehensive and a functional Protection plan, participants at the  workshop will be equipped with skills that permit them to develop and manage IT services, explore fundamental cybersecurity principles, security architecture, emerging Information System technologies and protect Critical Information Infrastructure.

Critical infrastructure are important network infrastructure and information systems in public telecommunications, information services, energy sources, transportation and other critical industries and domains, in which any destruction or data leakage will severely impact national security, the nation’s welfare, people’s wellbeing and public interests.

The workshop on Critical Information Infrastructure Protection is therefore an integral part of national sustainability strategies.

The workshop which is in its fourth edition, is the fruit of a cooperation agreement between ANTIC and the CTO, signed in November 2016, geared towards strengthening the capacities of ANTIC’s personnel and other ICT-sector stakeholders on cybersecurity in Cameroon.
